Synergy Between Islamic Financial Institutions in Promoting Small Business

Islamic financial institutions that exist today are Islamic banks , Takaful , Shariah mortgages , SRB , and BMT , however , in this discussion we will only vokus at three institutions namely Islamic banks , BPRS , and BMT . In the above discussion we have seen that each of the institutions that have different strategic roles . Among the different functions , but there is one fundamental thing that should be the benchmark of the managers , which departs from the same vision that the application of the principles of Islam in society . Moreover, we know that from each of these institutions possess its own limitations and constraints , so that these constraints are not addressed immediately will inhibit the growth and function LKMS .

Based on a review and study of practitioners and academics , actually found that there are real obstacles that can be overcome . One way of overcoming existing obstacles is to strengthen the cooperation between the agencies and institutions of different kind , because the real advantages that exist in a single institution can simanfaatkan by other institutions in meneutupi deficiencies , so as to create synergistic and mutually beneficial .

Linkage program between Islamic banks , BPRS and BMT has several strategic foundation . First , through the mechanism of profit sharing and forbids usury to realize a more equitable partnership and beneficial to all parties . Second , BPRS and BMT network wide . SRB 84 business units and business unit BMT 3038 ( Abdul Salam , 2002) . Third , SRB is a formal Islamic microfinance institutions and BMT is an informal Islamic microfinance institutions that can be easily accessed by low-income communities . Fourth , BPRS and BMT experience serving small clients create both have advantages compared to specialized Islamic banks in the SME sector work .

Utilization of BPRS and BMT to channel some of the funds of Islamic banks to the public is actually not much different from the distribution pattern that occurs in the real sector . Channeling of Islamic banks as producers to the community , especially low-income people as consumers use the SRB and BMT as a distributor , hence in each stage of the distribution of the profit margins are respectively .

Linkage with the principle of profit-sharing programs have several advantages . First , the determination of the ratio / revenue sharing agreement made at the time based on the likelihood of profit and loss that is more fair to the parties . Second , the ratio for the results based on the amount of profit earned . Third , the results depend on business profits run . When businesses lose money , the losses will be shared by the parties . Fourth , the amount of profit distribution increased with the increase in total revenues .

The benefits of the program can be felt by both parties ( Islamic Banking and BPRS / BMT ) in particular , but the real benefit has been perceived by the larger community , khsusunya micro and small entrepreneurs , so as to obtain capital for its business development . According to Susanto (2004 ) , the benefits of which can be felt by Islamic banks , BPRS , and BMT are :

For Islamic banks : will further enlarge the people's access to services as financing of Islamic banks ; transaction costs will be lower when compared to the distribution of funding directly to each unit of SMEs whose value is small ; costs of banking operations will be more efficient because Islamic banks are not need to make a branch or office service to outlying areas .

For BPRS and BMT : the presence of the linkage program , of course, will increase the availability of funds to be distributed to the community , especially SMEs . Linkage program will be a solution to the structural problems BPRS and BMT as microfinance institutions . This occurs because people assume that deposits in Islamic banks are safer than in BPRS and BMT . In contrast , the procedure in BPRS and BMT financing is simpler and easier compared to Islamic banks , so that the small community is more interested in BPRS and BMT borrow but less interested in saving money on BPRS and BMT .

With such a pattern over Islamic banks may be able to overcome the excess liquidity , BPRS and BMT grow into Islamic microfinance institutions are increasingly known and trusted by the people and SMEs can overcome the problems of capital .
Actually greater benefits can be obtained by expanding areas of cooperation between Islamic Financial Institutions ( LKS ) is there . Cooperation to do , is actually not limited to cooperation disbursements only. Cooperation can also be done in terms of network utilization and facilities that have been owned by the Islamic banks . As has been done by some SRB , namely the cooperation the utilization of ATM facilities . With the cooperation BPR / BPRS can also enjoy the ATM facility . This course will improve customer satisfaction , which in turn will increase the profits of banks and SRB .

Network -level cooperation between agencies / type also needs to be done , in order to enhance the performance of institutions , and strengthen the role and position as the instigators of the application of Islamic economics in the community . Forms of cooperation may be associations , forums friendship , unity , and other national and regional scale
